This cake has a story behind it in that it was for a dear friend’s daughter who I have known since she was at school…It was this friend who actually named my company back in 2010 when we went on a 3 mile walk around Trentham Gardens Lake. Sadly and devastatingly, this cake was damaged in transit… I tried to fix it as best I could, but it was not the same. It was a gutting experience, but have learned an important lesson from it. Fortunately the pictures captured, in suspended animation, what was a project I really and truly enjoyed. See more pics on Facebook or the Handbag Cakes page.
For my future daughter-in-law’s birthday… I am not that experienced with cupcakes (4th set I’ve made) as I spend more time on cakes, but applied my cake decorating skills to these..I loved making cupcakes and found Carina’s Cupcakes tutorial so useful and helpful with the Sugar Veiling techniques. A selection of what cupcakes I have made so far can be found on the Cupcakes page. Enjoy!
This was for an 18 year old lad called Louis, who is a huge fan of Lewis Hamilton, Formula 1 Driver here in the UK. He only saw this last night, after coming out of hospital after an emergency appendix operation!!! That is one birthday he will never forget! He loved the cake and that warms my heart as I have known him since he was 8 years old. His grandmother is a dear friend of mine.
What a novelty it is to be surprised with one of these delightful cakes. They seem almost too good to cut into, but cut into them one must in order to experience the delicious temptations within. A discerning sugar pallet is the only thing you need to enjoy these lovely creations.
